Tell me every person who ever made you feel like a burden and I will bring you their heads.

The words are there, on Corrigan’s lips, evident in his expression for a fraction of a second, before he smooths it away. If Kurt is that anxious about a misstep, about upsetting their new family, glowering and grumbling won't be helpful. There'll be time enough later, once his mate has finally relaxed into the safety of the pack, to figure out who had hurt them.

Knowing his fury is bleeding into the link, Corrigan meets Naseer's eyes for a moment, finding an echo of that same rage. Kurt is all of theirs now, each wolf as connected and bonded to them as the Alpha is. When the time comes to enact revenge, Corrigan won't be alone in tearing the perpetrators to pieces. That's a bloody, but comforting thought.

"You haven't been a burden, beloved," he says instead, sipping absently at the tea to calm his own anger. The taste is familiar to him by now, but Kurt's scrunched-nose reaction is precious, adorable. There's so much they've never experienced -- so much the pack can show them, new sensations and tastes and sights and sounds. Their hands are small enough to both be swallowed up in one of Corrigan’s, but that isn't enough. He needs to have them closer. Protected.

So, setting the tea aside, he rises to settle back on the fur couch, tucking Kurt against his side and nuzzling the top of their head. "It's a lot to adjust to, all of a sudden, I know. But you've done nothing wrong, and you're in no trouble here." Corrigan reaches out, beckoning Naseer to sit on their mate's other side, prompting: "Right, Naseer?"
