They don't have to wait very long—though any amount of waiting is starting to feel like torture for some of the younger wolves of the pack. There's squirming and snapping and nervous tapping of feet in the dirt as they watch the settlement, the little people going about their business, blissfully unaware of the pack observing them. Young Benjamin wants to bound straight into town and snatch the first nubile little thing he sees, too energetic for his own good. He's swiftly put in his place.
Thankfully, a nubile little thing finally splits off from the crowd before any of the pups get any other rash ideas. From a distance, they look like a young woman, long hair held in place by a red scarf tied around their head, their skirts dragging against the dusty ground. But upon closer inspection, their shoulders are too broad and their chest is too flat for even Benjamin to confuse them for a girl.
It matters precious little, of course. With how fractured and rattled the pack has become, any distraction is welcome. Especially when it wanders so cluelessly right into their path, smelling like life and youth and innocence. Where the little human is rushing to so heedlessly doesn't matter either. They won't get there.
"How do you want to do this, Cor?" Naseer asks, unable to take his eyes off their prey. Even being the eldest (debatably) of the pack, not even he can help how his mouth waters at the sight. "How far should we let it get before..?"
THANK U FOR MY LIFE
